Adventures in Minecraft

I love me some Minecraft. It’s a game of endless creativity and adventure, I play it CONSTANTLY. These are my Adventures in Minecraft.
It’s been quite awhile since starting a new map, even with many projects left unfinished it’s time to say goodbye to “Map 1” and start fresh. This time instead of making huge forts I’ll be making a smaller base and spending more time exploring and less time on construction.

Without further to do: What does the map generator have for me today?
It’s a winter wonderland!

The map is enveloped in a layer of fluffy white snow. The top layer can be broken like any other block, but digging with a shovel will give you snowballs that can be thrown at things.
Water that is exposed will freeze into ice. Any water that is touching ice will freeze also. This can be both a good and a bad thing seeing that now getting to islands and across rivers and lakes is much faster, however if you fall under water you can be trapped and drown very easily.
The most notable terrain features of this map are the large trees that dot the landscape.
They seem to come in a few different kinds: Large single trees (like the one pictured) that have one trunk that will lead to a large collection of leaves, and clusters of trees that will all grow together. Other things to note are the small caves in the sides of cliffs and mountains. Most of these caves are small (only 5-9 squares large) and do not connect to any other caves or tunnels. I like to think of them as dens for the various animals (and monsters) that wander around the map.
Also new: Cows. Larger than sheep or pigs, they always seem to be in groups or 2 or more.
Occasionally I have found one by itself, but for the most part when you see one another might not be far off. I love these guys, the dopy face, the loud annoying “MOOO” I find them just ADORABLE. On death cows drop leather which can be used to craft leather armor. You can also right click on them with a bucket to get a bucket of milk. Milk currently has no use as of yet, but should be used in recipes in future updates.
After scouting around for a while and setting up a small base in a cave I found the location of my main headquarters: An island in the middle of the sea! Building in the tree cluster will keep me off the ground and allow having a good view of anything wandering on the flatness of the ice. But first I need to get a few supplies: some stone, sand for glass, and a TON of wood.
